Great value for the money Oct 11, 2008
By ninjette My kids love it too (4 yrs + 1 yr old).
It is well made, it sounds decent, it floats (including mallets), it sticks to the bathroom tiles, and it can get shared and/or broken down. Can't beat the price either.

One of our bathtime favorites! Aug 08, 2010
By Rebekah We have gone through 2 of these since my daughter was just under a year old, and will be getting another shortly. She loves it, and it has always been one of her favorites for the tub. I would recommend it to any parent out there.

My nephew loves this toy for in the bathtub and it has a nice quality to the sound- not just a cheap toy.

Out of tune! Ugh! Dec 27, 2010
By M. Ferrell I got this toy in a set of Alex tub toys that also included the drum and the flutes, but had to write a review for the xylophone included in the set.
If you have any kind of musical ear at all - this xylophone will drive you crazy. The notes are C,D,E,F,G,A. As another reviewer pointed out, not a complete scale, which is fine. Our problem (the musically trained adults in the household) with this xylophone is the tuning - or lack there of. The F is extremely out of tune and is at least a half step sharp. It seems the F bar was made a bit short. Thus, I knock off a star in my review. I don't know if other sets have this problem or not. The xylophone came with some color coded "sheet music" so the kids can play songs like Mary had a little lamb and twinkle, twinkle little star, but the songs and the scale being so off key drive us nuts. It sounds like a horribly wrong note being played each time. The kids would probably give this five stars. Being 1 and 3 years old they don't seem to notice the bad pitch on this "musical" instrument. We can live with it, but it would have been nice if the F bar had been as nicely tuned as the remaining bars. Oh well.
Overall, a cute concept, good quality with the exception of the one bad note, and kids love it.

music and learning in the bath! Oct 01, 2011

This set of interlocking keys on the xylophone are a hit with my one year old grandson. He can take any key and put it on the side of the tub and make music with the mallet. He can put several up or a few. They play while they are floating or when on the dry floor. They do not always have the clearest notes, since they are attatched to foam with plastic. But they do allow him to experiment with colors, sizes, sounds, and cause and effect. You just need to watch little ones during play. Especially with the mallets, and of course if they are used in the tub! I have to agree it would be nice if they played a full scale. It doesn't bother me, however.
