It is a fairly simple wooden toy (like many of the Melissa & Doug range) but provides an excellent way for infants to start developing their manual dexterity. The fish themselves are attached to each other with a cord running through them which is not accessible to the child but enables them to twist each fish individually to make shapes and patterns. My son is now seven months and he has been playing with it for two months and you can see the increase in his dexterity and motor control develop as he manipulates the fish making patterns out of them and, more recently, using it for teething duties. This toy is just perfect for infants in a number of ways and my son enjoys it quite a lot.

This is such a simple, safe, and fun toy! My daughter loves it and I'm really excited to find a reasonably priced wooden toy. I purchased it when she was 6 months and she's now 8 months and still enjoys it.

It says that this product is intended for 6+ months, and yet there is a warning that says 'small parts' and not intended for those under 3 years. Which is the correct warning?

This is a great for teething. My baby is attracted to the colorful design. This toy is also very durable. I would purchase Melissa & Doug products again.

I really like Melissa and Doug toys. I bought this for my daughter for Christmas when she was 9 months old. She never really took to it. She will pull it out every once in awhile now, but she doesn't play with it as it's intended. The toy itself is very cute and well made. It has stood up to some chewing by my daughter as well. No stratches in the paint, either!
