Fancy shell, cheap inside Aug 13, 2009
By Amazon shopper The toy really looks nice.
Seems to work fine as well.
However, I was a little bit disappointed looking into it.
Either my remembrance of my childhood (20 years ago) is blurred or the making of this Kaleidoscope is not top of its breed.
I recall overwhelming colorful images changing surprisingly with every turn.
With this make you can easily identify the individual beads.
Still it does change nicely. Might be still the best on the market.

Lots of fun and geometry for very little money. Sep 25, 2007

I purchased this for inspiration in designing kaleidoscope artwork. The geometric shapes in the design are easy to examine, and the colors are nice and bright without being too common and cloying. It looks like jewels. Lots of good, clean fun.

Came to us broken..... Feb 15, 2009
By Timothy F. Flinn This could have been a very enjoyable product....it is made of tin and would seem to hold up well in "little" hands. However one of the prisms inside seems to be broken so you don't get the "true" kalidascope experience. As a Christmas gift we were unhappy with it as a gift for one of our grandchilden...hard to explain to a youngster how it "should look" when you use it.

USE IT LIKE A MANDALA FOR A MENTAL TRAINING TOOL FOR MEDITATION Aug 28, 2010
By Reviewer

This item arrived on time, intact and works well, sturdy enough. We treated it gently as a scope should be. Many different colorful images. I ask people to try and repeat the same colorful image twice and they cannot. The images are like snowflakes. The images can be used as a tool for meditation, similar to Mandala. I use Kaleidoscopes to encourage relaxation in people who normally need drugs or alcohol to relax and feel safe. It takes conversations away from feelings of hopelessness back to problem solving and hope, back to discussions of how peaceful life still can be if we allow it, how joyful it still can be right now, how relaxed and adventurous. Some people like to add head phones and favorite music. Even nervous people sit in nature and feel calm and clear thinking again. I can see their breathing and body relax. The mental break, the mental reset they needed. They're finally giving themselves personal one on one self time. Afterwards people say they feel like their batteries are charged again, ready to take on problems of the world again (all without drugs or alcohol). Kaleidoscopes are like Harry Potter's different wands, due to the different color/pattern differences, each Kaleidoscope takes you on a different adventure, if you allow it. Where will you allow your imagination take you? It can be your personal spontaneous Mandala offering you your own inner personal guidance and advice for the day. Friends have given me expensive Kaleidoscopes and I'm grateful but the expensive ones are just different but not any better. Let the adventure begin, enjoy.

Fun Novelty Dec 29, 2009

The quality of both the scope and the music box is mediocre, but it's a fun novelty. This toy is sturdy, so it would be a good first kaleidoscope for a child.
